- I’m ready to get started, where should I begin?
You begin the process by filling out the questionnaire. Click here to begin!
- How long will it take to prepare my trust?
Once you meet with Mr. Woodruff, you will typically receive your MPI Legacy Trust within 2 business days.
- How do I schedule a meeting to meet with Mr. Woodruff?
You can schedule a 15 minute meeting to ask questions about MPI Legacy Trusts here. (This is different than the 30 minute initial consultation.) However, if you are ready for the design meeting, please fill out the questionnaire here. After filling out the questionnaire, you will be asked to pay for the MPI Legacy Trust. If you are not prepared to do so, you can choose to pay later. After this payment screen, you can schedule a meeting with Mr. Skabelund.
- It looks like Mr. Woodruff’s next available appointment isn’t for several weeks. Can I meet with him sooner?
Unfortunately Mr. Woodruff’s calendar fills up quickly. There is a possibility that Mr. Woodruff may be able to make time in between appointments or a cancelation occurs. Please call Mr. Woodruff’s paralegal at 480 660-4600 and inquire if an earlier meeting is possible.
- Do I need my MPI Legacy Trust before I obtain my MPI® Strategy?
If you do not already have a MPI® Strategy, yes you need to create your MPI Legacy Trust before you apply for the insurance policy. Typically your MPI Legacy Trust date must be before the date of the insurance application.
- If I already have an MPI® Strategy, can I transfer it into a MPI Legacy Trust?
Yes, you can transfer your MPI® Strategy into your MPI Legacy Trust. After creating the MPI Legacy Trust, MPI® Unlimited or your MPI® Insurance Professional will work with you to transfer your MPI® Plan into your MPI Legacy Trust.
- How do I get my MPI® Strategy owned by the MPI Legacy Trust?
We provide a copy of your MPI Legacy Trust to MPI® Unlimited. They handle the paperwork and application with your insurance company. In other words, once the MPI Legacy Trust is created, your MPI® Strategy will be placed into your MPI Legacy Trust by your team.
- Can I make changes to my MPI Legacy Trust later?
Unless your MPI Legacy Trust is an ILIT, yes you can make changes to your MPI Legacy Trust. The MPI ILIT Legacy Trust and MPI ILIT Dynasty Legacy Trust are irrevocable. Meaning, typically, these trusts cannot be changed. The reason these trusts are irrevocable is for tax purposes.
- Does it cost to make changes to my MPI Legacy Trust?
Yes, there is an hourly charge for amendments. Most amendments to the MPI Legacy Trusts are simply changing the trustee designation, the incapacity determination or the amount a beneficiary will receive. For such amendments, the typical cost is around $300. For more comprehensive changes to the MPI Legacy Trust, the cost will be higher.
- I live in a state other than Arizona, is that a problem?
The MPI Legacy Trust utilizes Arizona law, but the trust works in all 50 states. Arizona enables trusts to last for 500 years! In addition, Arizona has very strong protection against your beneficiary’s creditors.
- Do I need an estate plan other than my MPI Legacy Trust?
Yes! The MPI Legacy Trust is only for MPI® Strategies! It is not designed to hold your house, vehicles or other property. You need to obtain legal counsel to establish an estate plan for these other assets including power of attorneys, living wills, etc. Mr. Skabelund is happy to recommend an attorney near you.
- Do I need to meet with Mr. Woodruff in person?
No. Most MPI® Strategy owners meet with Mr. Woodruff via zoom or by phone unless they live in the Phoenix area.
- How do I receive my MPI Legacy Trust?
Your MPI Legacy Trust documents will be emailed to you in PDF format. You will print out the signature pages to sign before a notary. We will then email you a compiled PDF of your MPI Legacy Trust. If you live in the Phoenix area, you are welcome to sign your MPI Legacy Trust in person.
